Christie Nguyen (far left), a mother, longtime Santa Fe College student and dancer, died in the Interstate 75 accident on January 29 , Photo: Alligator At 4 am that day, when Nguyen reached the I-75 in a Toyota Matrix car with her boyfriend Jason Lee Raikes, they, along with many other drivers, lost their sense of direction because of poor visibility from fog and smoke from a fire, Florida Highway Patrols said. Consequently, a dozen cars, six tractor-trailers and a motor home collided with each other, causing a terrible crash that left 11 dead, including Nguyen and Raikes, and 21 injured, My Fox Houston reported. Alora Haynes, chair of the Fine Arts department at SFC, said everybody remembered Christie Nguyen, a member of the Dance Theatre of SFC, as the girl who loved two things more than anything: her son and her dancing. "She was always smiling. She was a very pleasant person and so much fun." Nelson Nguyen, the girl’s younger brother, said his sister was a talented girl. She was a very good dancer and once performed along with others of the Dance Alive National Ballet at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts in Texas. Nguyen earned an associate of science in business administration, an associate of arts, and two vocational certificates in business from SFC, the Independent Florida Alligator said. |
