Video footage featuring the amazing landscapes of the Ninh Binh-based Trang An tourism complex will be aired on CNN this June, a spokesperson for the complex’s management board has said.

The broadcast is part of a program to promote the renowned tourism site to the world, jointly conducted by the provincial government and the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.

A CNN crew has finished filming the most beautiful parts of the 10,000 ha site, and is editing it in the US, the spokesperson said.

The complete footage is scheduled to be sent to Vietnam by the end of this month for final editing, before it is broadcast mid-year.

The 30-second video clips will be aired 180 times on CNN under a US$250,000 contract disbursed by the Ninh Binh government.

Trang An, which was once part of Hoa Lu, the country’s old capital more than 10 centuries ago, is renowned for its diverse ecosystem, unique natural beauty and geological characteristics.

The site includes three areas: Trang An Ecological Site, Tam Coc-Bich Dong Site and the former Hoa Lu Capital Area. It has around 500 species of flora, 73 species of birds and 41 species of other animals.

In May 2012, Trang An was recognized as a national heritage site, and the province is seeking a world heritage title.

In September 2012, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism submitted a dossier on the complex to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) asking for its recognition as a world heritage site.

Under the plan, the culture ministry will work with the Vietnam National Commission for UNESCO on necessary procedures for the dossier.
