This is an unexpected award for Minh Phuong but he deserves the tittle. Phuong, who comes from the southern province of Dong Nai, turns 32 this year. However, he still shows his high stability and ability to adapt quickly because this is only his second years playing for Da Nang FC.

Minh Phuong and Dong Tam FC won two V-League championship titles, under the instruction of coach Henrique Calisto. The midfielder then decided to look for new challenges at Da Nang FC at the age of 30. At that time, many people said that the midfielder moved to Da Nang, a city worth to live in Vietnam, to spend his last days with football, because he took his wife and children to this city.

However, possessing good basic techniques and a discipline lifestyle, Minh Phuong always maintained his good performance. He quickly confirmed his ability in the midfield area of Da Nang and immediately coach Le Huynh Duc gave him the captain's armband.

With captain Minh Phuong, Da Nang FC won the V-League championship despite a lot of difficulties, caused by the absence of key striker Gaston Merlo who suffered from wounds, at the end of the season.

With the V-League championship, Danang FC had a great season when it acquired most titles. Previously, the team was honored as the team with the best playing style. Its coach Le Huynh Duc received the excellent coach title. The team also has the best fan club and now midfielder Nguyen Minh Phuong received the best player title.

This title has confirmed coach Phan Thanh Hung’s decision to persuade Minh Phuong to come back to the national team is reasonable. Minh Phuong will join the national team in October.
