At the Badminton Japan Open 2012, scheduled from September 18 to 23, Vietnam’s top player Nguyen Tien Minh will have to face the top seed Lee Chong Wei if he enters the second round.

Though Minh recently won the championship of the Yonex Open Vietnam 2012, his ranking does not increase yet. He currently ranks 14th in the world.

At the Open Japan 2012, Minh will be the 10th seed and he will have to face the top seeds in the second round.

According to the draw results, Minh’s rival in the first round will be China’s Wang Zhengming, who ranks 16th. In their most recent game at the Open Indonesia tournament, Tien Minh was the winner.

If Minh wins in the first round, he will face the world’s No. 2 player who is the top seed in Japan, Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia. In their nine games, Lee Chong Wei defeated Minh in eight games.

The total bonus for the Open Japan 2012 is up to $200,000.

Last year, Minh was defeated by India’s Ajay Jayaram in the first round.
