Vietnam plays int’l friendlies before Suzuki Cup

The national squad will play host to Indonesia on October 16 and India on October 19 in the lead up to the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Suzuki Cup in November.

The friendly matches will be held at My Dinh national stadium in Hanoi.

Players of the squad are flying to the central city of Nha Trang for the fourth training session under chief coach Phan Thanh Hung.

All 25 players will do physical strength exercises, which are due to start on October 2 and finish on October 13.

National assistant coach of football and fitness Dylan Kerr from the UK revealed that besides common exercises, each of the players will run 10km along the Nha Trang beach every day.  

At the Suzuki Cup 2012, Vietnam will take on the winners of the qualifying round on November 24, the Philippines on November 27, and hosts Thailand on November 30. All three Group A matches will be held at Rajamangala stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

Group B comprises Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, and the runners-up of the qualifying round. Group matches will take place in Malaysia’s capital Kuala Lumpur.

All referees will be invited from East and West Asia to ensure fair play for the tournament.  

Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Brunei and Timor Leste will compete in the qualifying round for two tickets to the final round from October 5- 15.
