Vietnam has fielded a team of ten stellar wrestlers to represent the nation at the 2013 Asian Freestyle and Classical Wrestling Championships that began today in New Delhi, India, and will continue until April 22.

The country’s main hopes for medals are women’s freestyle wrestlers including 2012 Olympian and 2010 Asian Games runner-up Nguyen Thi Lua (51kg), 2012 world youth silver medalist Vu Thi Hang (48kg), and reigning Southeast Asia champion Pham Thi Loan (55kg).

They expect to be challenged by young wrestlers from strong Asian teams such as Japan, China, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

Vietnam scored an important victory recently, taking home 16 gold medals from the 2013 Southeast Asian Freestyle and Classical Wrestling Championships in Yangon, Myanmar, which was also a pre-SEA Games competition
