A total of 2,200 voters in two communes of Hiep
Hoa and Phuoc Gia, mainly inhabited by Cadoong ethnic minority group in Hiep Duc
district, central Quang Nam province, cast their votes.

Meanwhile, almost 1,300 Vietnamese who are
working at the Sekaman 3 hydroelectric power project site in Laos’ Sekong
province went to a mobile polling station at the Nam Giang bordergate of Quang
Nam province.

The Managing Director of Sekaman 3 project, Pham
Van Kiem, said that his company had arranged 10 buses to bring them back.

A couple of workers from central Nghe An province
said they were very happy to return to the homeland to exercise their citizens’
rights.

Vietnamese citizens, wherever they live and work,
always receive help from the Party and State to fulfill their rights and duties,
said Phan Thi Hai.

Ho Chi Minh’s thought and moral example in media
spotlight

The thought and moral example of President Ho Chi
Minh were a great and valuable spiritual asset of the Communist Party of Vietnam
(CPV) and the nation, eternally lighting up the country’s revolutionary cause.

The remark was made by the Nhan dan (People’s)
newspaper, the official organ of the CPV, in its editorial on May 19 in
celebration of the 121st birthday of Uncle Ho and the 100th
anniversary of his departure to the world to seek ways to national salvation
(June 5, 1911-2011).
President Ho Chi Minh devoted all of his life to the cause of national
liberation and construction, the editorial said, adding that realising his
sacred testament, the CPV has upheld its political stand for national
independence and socialism, and considered Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh’s
thought as the foundation and guidelines for its action.
The editorial called on all cadres, Party members and people of all strata to
grasp the contents of all documents presented at the 11th National
Party Congress, regularly study and follow President Ho Chi Minh’s moral
example, and strive for the goal of a strong country with healthy people and a
democratic, fair and civilised society.

Other major newspapers in the country such as the
Quan Doi Nhan Dan (People’s Army), the Ha Noi Moi (New Hanoi) and the Saigon
Giai Phong (Liberated Saigon) run editorials and articles affirming the whole
people’s commitment to following Uncle Ho’s path to make Vietnam more prosperous
and beautiful as he had recommended.

More markers erected along the Vietnam-Laos

The central province of Quang Nam and its
neighbouring Se Kong province of Laos had jointly built 28 out of 60 border
markers along their 142 km common borderline by May 18.

After one year of implementing the Prime
Minister’s Directive on accelerating the building of more border markers and
upgrading of existing markers along the Vietnam-Laos border, the joint working
team of Quang Nam and Sekong have demarcated 44 out of 60 locations for new
border markers, as well as clearing land mines at 19 locations and along more
than 83 km of roads serving the building of border markers.

This is a difficult task as most of the sites are
located in mountainous terrain over 1,000m above sea level.

The Quang Nam provincial People’s Committee has
worked closely with Se Kong province of Laos in demarcating the locations of the
remaining border markers, as set for 2011.

So far the joint border marker team has completed
profiles of 18 new border markers and handed them over to border guard forces.

New Ho Chi Minh Memorial House inaugurated

The inauguration of the Memorial House for
President Ho Chi Minh was held yesterday at the Pac Bo historical site in the
northern mountainous province of Cao Bang on the occasion of the leader’s 121st
birthday.

Construction of the house was the most
important task in a project to renovate and preserve the Pac Bo historical site,
which is best known as the place where President Ho Chi Minh led the liberation
revolution against the French colonialists after his return after 30 years
abroad.

Speaking at the ceremony, Permanent Member
of the Party Central Committee Secretariat Truong Tan Sang said the house had
important spiritual meaning not only to the local people in Cao Bang but people
around the country as well. It would help the young generation to be better
informed about Ho Chi Minh ideology as well as the country’s revolutionary
history.

Notable attendees at the ceremony included
Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Tong Thi Phong and Deputy Prime
Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan.

People’s Army to set up radio and
television centre

The decision to establish the Viet
Nam People’s Army Radio-Television Centre was announced yesterday at the
Ministry of Defence headquarters in Ha Noi.

Once it is established, the centre is
expected to act as the information bridge linking leaders with the whole army.
Its mission will be to disseminate information about ongoing military and
national security affairs in units and localities nation-wide, the building of
national defence involving the entire population, and building strong people’s
national defence.

It will also focus on the activities of
State and Party leaders as well as Ministry of Defence leadership.

Efforts are underway to launch the channel
on December 22 which will mark the 67th anniversary of the Army’s founding.
