Vietnamese women win second match at Olympic qualifiers

Vietnamese women beat Myanmar 2-0 Sunday in their second game of the 2012 Olympics Women’s Football qualifiers in Taiwan.

They won their opening match against Hong Kong 4-0 Friday.

Midfielder Nguyen Thi Muon scored a brace in the first game and the opener in the second match. She also made a neat pass to captain Kim Hong who scored the second goal in the game against Myanmar.

After two wins, the Vietnamese women footballers have a big chance to advance to the next round.

They will next clash with Thailand on Friday March 25 and hosts Taiwan two days later.

The best five teams in the first qualifying round will advance to the second round where they will compete with China, Japan, Australia, the Republic of Korea and the People’s Democratic Republic of Korea who have received byes to the second round.

The top two teams from the second round will represent Asian women footballers at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
