Tea-coffee cultural week opens in Can Tho City

A tea and coffee cultural week opened in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho on Jan. 14.

The event, jointly held by the Vietnam Coffee-Cocoa Association and the Vietnam Tea Association, drew the participation of 151 enterprises with nearly 200 pavilions from Ho Chi Minh City and Southeastern and Mekong Delta provinces.

It aims to facilitate nationwide enterprises in exchanging and promoting their products as well as to meet demand of customers on the threshold of the Lunar New Year.

During the week, various products including electric and telecommunications products, interior decoration, office equipment, cosmetics, clothes and consumer goods will also be on show.

HCM City to host youth Tet Festival 2011

“Tan Mao Vietnamese Tet Festival 2011” featuring various cultural activities will take place at Ho Chi Minh City Youth Cultural Center from January 22 to February 7.

The event will include the Banh Tet (cylindrical glutinous rice cake) festival, Ong Do (Calligraphy), music and fashion show, photo exhibition and folk games.

A special theme based concert “Warm spring-peace offering” by famous singers Phuong Thanh, Quang Linh, Hien Thuc, Quang Vinh and the Mat Ngoc band will be held on January 29.

All proceeds from the show will be donated to help poor and disadvantaged children in the city.

There will also be a sentence composition contest for students. Submissions can be sent to the Ho Chi Minh City Student Assistance Center at 33 Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, District 1 from now until January 22. Registrations are also open for a singing contest entitled “Spring Rendezvous” at the center from now until January 22.

Vietnamese Entrepreneur Festival to welcome 11th National Party Congress

A Vietnamese Entrepreneur Festival programme will be held in Hanoi on January 22 to welcome the 11th National Party Congress and recognize the outstanding entrepreneurs’ contributions to the national economy.

The programme was co-organised by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry and T &A Trading Joint Stock Company.

It is expected to involve 20 businesses which have made considerable contribution to the country’s socio-economic development.

The organizing board will present awards to the successful businesses and confer the “Entrepreneur Festival” insignia on the participants.

During the event, diverse activities will be held including talks and cultural and art exchanges.

Art performances welcome 11th National Party Congress

Art performances to welcome the 11th National Party Congress, including one in My Dinh Stadium on January 19, will be organised by the Department of Performing Arts under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

This programme includes two parts with the participation of popular singers, such as Quang Tho, Thu Hien, My Linh, Dang Duong and Tan Nhan, and others beloved artists.

The singers will perform songs to praise the Party, President Ho Chi Minh and the country.

Dao Dang Hoan, Deputy Head of Department of Performing Arts says the performance will celebrate Vietnam’s achievements and the success of the 11th National Party Congress, the nation’s renovation, while also welcoming the New Year 2011.
