A fire took place in a garment
workshop of Vietnamese people near the Cherkizovo market in Moscow, Russia, in
the early morning of April 7, killing four Vietnamese people.

The accident also killed two Russians.

The Vietnamese Embassy in Russia has sent representatives to the location to
meet representatives of Russian relevant agencies and seek ways to help overseas
Vietnamese there overcome the consequences.

Gia Airport closes for repairs to runway


Vietnam
Airlines will temporarily stop offering flights on the HCM City-Rach Gia-Phu
Quoc route until April 23 when repair work on the airport’s runways ends.


Passengers who booked flights on this route will get a full refund.


Vietnam
Airlines also announced that it would offer one more flight every day from HCM
City to Phu Quoc Isalnd to meet the travel demand of passengers, bringing daily
flights on this route to 11.

Untreated waste being discharged into sea


Huyndai
Vinashin Shipyard Company Ltd, located in Ninh Phuoc Commune, Ninh Hoa District,
on Wednesday was discovered to have discharged untreated daily waste into the
sea, according to police in the southern central province of Khanh Hoa.


The
waste came from the company’s canteen which serves 1,000 workers each day.

The company was also found polluting the environment in 2008.

Smuggled cigarettes seized on Tuan Chau


About
100,000 packs of smuggled cigarettes were confiscated by Northern Marine Fleet
No 01 on northern Quang Ninh Province’s Tuan Chau Island early this week.


Many
fake number plates were also found in three freight cars which were used to fool
authorities during cigarette transport.


This is
considered as the biggest cigarette smuggling ring ever discovered in the
country.

Strange skin disease spreads in dormitory


Hundreds
of students and employees have been infected with a strange skin disease,
including rashes and ulcers, in the Hau Giang Public College’s dormitory.


Vice
Dean of Hau Giang Social Diseases Prevention Centre’s Dermatology Department,
Nguyen Van Hai said the disease could be allergic dermatitis, which is believed
to be caused by insects.


More
than 170 people have recovered after three to four days of treatment, Hai added.


Research
on the cause of the disease is ongoing.
