VietNamNet Bridge – A truck carrying beer hit the banister of Ben Thuy Bridge in the central province of Nghe An and was upturned on the morning of January 26. Thousands of boxes of beers and beer cans felt to the road, causing chaos because locals rushed to pick up beer boxes.


Witnesses said that the truck was on the bridge, which links Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces, when the driver suddenly lost control and hit the banister. The truck was capsized. Thousands of beer boxes and cans felt to the road.

Thousands of people from Vinh city (Nghe An province) and Nghi Xuan district (Ha Tinh province) flocked to the site to pick up beer boxes, causing chaos.

Though many local police officers were present to solve the case and the driver tried to protect his assets, National Highway 1A was stuck for six hours because of the accident. Vehicles couldn’t move in a road section of 5km.

Lieutenant-colonel Hoang Phi Quyen, vice chief of Vinh City Traffic Police Team, said that after the accident happened and caused chaos, all traffic police officers of Vinh City were sent to the site. The traffic jam was clear at noon, after locals went home.
