Of the three movies that were launched at the Tet festival
2011, only Bong Ma Hoc Duong (Ghost at School) will not compete at the Golden

Movies that attracted public attention in 2010 like Bi Dung
So (Bi, Don’t Be Afraid), Giao Lo Dinh Menh (In Ferno) and Em Hien Nhu Ma So
(Gentle As A Nun) are not on the list of competitors.

However, ten movies is a high number to compete at the
Golden Kite Awards so far. They are produced by both private and state-owned
producers, including the Vietnam Feature Film, Feature Film Studio I,
Liberation Film, Vietnam Cinema Association Film, Writer’s Association Film,
BHD, Ly Huynh and Phuoc Sang.

The Golden Kite Awards 2011 will be held in HCM City.
Local audiences can enjoy the ten films listed above for free from March 10-13
at the Tan Son Nhat Cinema and the Vietnam Film Institute. Bi, Don’t Be Afraid
and Norwegian Woods will be screened at a workshop at the Rex Hotel
on March 12.

Tran Luan Kim, former Chair of the Vietnam Cinema
Association will be the chief of the 13-member jury of the feature film
competition.

The jury and journalists of the Press Criticism Club will
watch the 10 entries in Hanoi
in early March.

The Golden Kite Awards is an annual event organized by the
Vietnam Cinema Association for feature, video and television films produced in
the previous year. The organizing board presents the Golden, Silver and Bronze
Kite Awards for the best films. The first event took place in 2003.
