VietNamNet BridgeWindsor Plaza Hotel, in collaboration with the German Business Association, will organize a traditional beer festival called Oktoberfest 2008, which will run from October 8 to 12.

The organizer says the fourth beer festival will take place in the hotel’s Jade Ballroom with an elaborate setting to give visitors the feeling that they are in Bavaria, the origin of the event, adding that the five-day festival will be a chance for beer-lovers to taste different kinds of German draught and bottled beer and enjoy live German music, dancing, cooking and traditional games.

Like in previous years, German ambassador Rolf Schulze will join the festival to perform the “O’zapft is”, the traditional tapping of the first beer barrel, signaling the opening of the festivity.

During the festival, a modern, young and dynamic German music band Trenkwalder, led by singer Hubert Trenkwalder, will entertain guests with folk songs which have been thrilling folk music fans for more than nine years.

The Oktoberfest also includes other entertainment and activities, such as the Bavarian log buster, drawing and a game for couples called the Stone Labyrinth. These traditional German games are challenging, fun and exciting for both adults and children.

Oktoberfest will run from 6:30 p.m. until late on Wednesday to Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, when children under 16 years may join in the fun.

Tickets are available at US$36 each for retail buyers, US$33 for those who buy from 50 to 149 tickets, or US$30 for buyers who purchase 150 tickets or more. Tickets for children from six to 16 years old are priced at US$18 each.
