LookAtVietnam – Vietnam Sotheby’s International Realty has announced the listing for sale of two historically significant Hue city-style wood houses and the antiques and art that fill one of them.

A view of Hue-style ancient wood house in Thu Duc District.

Both houses were designed and built by Vietnamese architect Nguyen Ngoc Anh who specializes in Hue-style design. Their owner, Vu Van, is a traditional pharmacist and an avid collector of antiques and art. Van spent many years collecting the iron wood that was used for the construction of the two houses from disassembled ancient houses in the city of Hue and surrounding areas.

The first house, located in HCMC’s Thu Duc District, has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a large living room, a kitchen and a courtyard, sits on a 467.2 square meter lot and measures 197.5 square meters.

The second house, located in the Suoi Lo O neighborhood of Binh Duong Province, a small artist community, is divided into two buildings, both filled with valuable antiques and art, and includes a prayer temple, a swimming pool and a servant’s house on 1,000 square meters of land along the Lo O stream.

The city of Hue, in Central Vietnam, was the national capital until 1945 and is famous for its historic buildings. Hue originally rose to prominence as the capital of the Nguyen lords, a feudal dynasty which dominated much of southern Vietnam from the 17th to the 19th centuries.
