The non-profit organisation Wildlife At Risk (WAR) in collaboration
with the Khan Quang Do (Red Scarf) children magazine yesterday, June 1, handed out awards
to the 17 best paintings submitted for a contest titled Treasures of the Forest.

Save the rhino: The painting titled People Are Friends
of the Javan Rhino, won first prize in a contest held by Wildlife At Risk
(WAR) in collaboration with the Khan Quang Do (Red Scarf) children magazine.

The first prize worth VND3 million (US$145) went to Le Tran
Truc Linh, a student at Dong Khoi Junior High School in HCM city for her
painting titled People Are Friends of the Javan Rhino, according to organisers.

The two first runners-up and four second runners-up got VND1
million and VND500,000 each, respectively.

The painting that won the top prize was inspired by the death
of a rhino in Cat Tien National Park last year.

More than 50 paintings selected as the best of all submissions
are being displayed at the Cultural Product and Services Festival 2011, co-organised
by Saigon Cultural Products Corporation and Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper at Phu
Tho Exhibition Centre from May 1-6.

The contest, which was launched in March, received more than
1,000 paintings from children aged between 11-15 years nationwide.
