Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan has
asked the Ministry of Education and Training to fully implement new tasks for
this year, especially the second semester of the 2010-2011 academic year.

During his working session with
ministry officials on February 16, Mr Nhan emphasized that the ministry,
universities, and colleges should focus on carrying out an action plan for
renewed management of university education in the 2010-2012 period as well as
the PM’s decision 239/QD-TTg on providing compulsory kindergarten education for
children at the age of five in the 2010-2015 period.

He said it is urgent to map out a
zoning plan for universities and colleges and asked the education and training
sector to strengthen and maintain disciplines in exams.

At the working session, the ministry
insisted that the government consider incentive policies to raise salaries for
teachers and educational managers and increase the number of schools, and
students to meet the demand for human resources in the cause of national
modernization and industrialization.

According to plan, the ministry will
submit to the Prime Minister some projects aimed at building a studying society
in the 2011-2020 period, eradicating illiteracy in the 2011-2020 period and
developing a universal education programme and textbooks after 2015 and training
human resources for the country.
