VietNamNet Bridge - The national flu supervision system on January 19 reported that 39 new cases of A/H1N1 flu were detected in some cities and provinces since October 2010.

The new cases were detected in Dong Nai, Tien Giang, Long An, Khanh Hoa and Nam Dinh provinces besides Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.

Two weeks ago the system collected 52 samples of which 16 cases were found infected with the A/H1N1 virus.

The Ministry of Health has issued a public warning calling on people to protect themselves and their community by strictly following the preventive measures as advised through broadcasts and leaflets.

Students and teachers in schools have been warned to monitor their health everyday for timely detection of any swine flu symptoms.

Elderly, pregnant women and young children should take precautionary measures and avoid contact with patients.

People must monitor any symptoms of flu such as respiratory illnesses, high fever, sore throat, bellyache, vomiting and diarrhoea and immediately seek medical help when necessary.

The ministry also warned the public not to buy Tamiflu anti-viral medication without a doctor’s prescription.
