Sixteen people have apparently gone into coma after eating toxic fish in the central province of Thanh Hoa Thursday.

 

The victims first came to Lang Co Town’s health center, where they told doctors that at around 9 a.m. that day on their way to Lang Co beach they found a bag of fish which they later had for lunch, Bach Thi Thu, a health worker said.

 

Some of them later started having headaches, dizziness and nausea while they were logging wood in a local forest, Thu said.

 

This prompted them to rush to the health center, where doctors diagnosed cooking poisoning. Since their symptoms worsened, they were transferred to a health center in Thua Thien – Hue city Province, where all of them lost their consciousness, four of them apparently in deep coma.

 

Initial information is that the victims belong to an ethnic minority group in Thanh Hoa, and were hired to log wood in Lang Co Town, the Tuoi Tre reported.

 

Doctors are working to determine the cause of apparent food poisoning.
