Tickets for Backstreet Boys concerts almost sold out, organizers say

Bob Dylan is rumored to perform in Ho Chi Minh City this April

Vietnam will be one of four Asian destinations for American music icon Bob Dylan who will perform in Ho Chi Minh City this April, according to several local media reports.

The website boblinks.com says the famous 70-year-old singer-songwriter will perform in a tribute to popular Vietnamese composer Trinh Cong Son held at the HCMC-based Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology University (RMIT) on April 10.

However, Dylan’s official website has not named Vietnam in his upcoming Asian tour which includes Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore and China. Lots of fans are thus worried, that it is just a rumor. In 2004, it was announced Dylan would come to Vietnam to attend the World Peace Music Awards, but in the end, the event was organized in the US.

For over five decades, Dylan has been a prolific song writer and has been honored with numerous awards, including numerous Grammy’s and an Oscar, for his great contributions to American music, especially the civil rights and anti-war movements.

Dylan has also made a strong impact in visual arts by publishing three books featuring his drawings and sketches.

Meanwhile, popular US pop band Backstreet Boys will rock Vietnamese fans with two shows: in HCMC’s Military Zone 7 stadium on March 24, and Hanoi’s My Dinh national stadium two days later.

According to Water Buffalo Productions (WBP), the event organizer, around 55,000 tickets will be sold for the “This Is Us” concerts in Vietnam. Ticket sales began on February 12, with prices ranging from VND500,000 (US$25) to VND2 million ($100).

WBP have announced that the seats are nearly sold out. But fans still have a chance to get a seat at official ticket outlets at in HCMC and Hanoi mentioned on the http://www.bsb.com.vn website. Online bookings can be made.

Fans can also call 1900 6604 (Hanoi) or 1900 6608 (HCMC) for phone booking and ticket delivery.

A cash prize of VND10 million, tickets to the show and an album autographed by the band’s members will be awarded to the winner of a singing competition being held by WBP from February 15 to March 15. The contestants have to submit video clips in which they perform the band’s top hits to the show’s website.
