Denmark will provide US$1.2 million for promoting contemporary Vietnamese art and culture over the next five years, the Danish embassy announced Friday.

 

The Cultural Development and Exchange Fund (CDEF) will support local contemporary art projects, hold competitions for young artists, and facilitate cooperation between Vietnamese and Danish artists.

Support for Vietnam’s cultural development is an important part of Denmark’s aid to the country, Danish Ambassador John Nielsen told a press briefing in Hanoi on Friday.

 

Denmark also plans several cultural events this year to mark the 40^th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, Nielsen said.
