Artist Tuyet Mai guides a foreign tourist on playing the Vietnamese zither.

Free courses of Vietnamese traditional music will be offered by two meritorious artists at Ho Chi Minh City’s Trucmai Music House from July 15.

Tuyet Mai and her husband Dinh Linh, who founded Trucmai in 2004, said the classes aim to introduce and promote Vietnamese arts not only among locals but also among foreign audiences.

The artists will perform and teach visitors how to play Vietnamese traditional musical instruments made of bamboo, wood and stone, as also explain the origins of Vietnam’s folk, traditional music and the instruments.

Tuyet Mai, who has performed for Bong Sen Theater in Ho Chi Minh City for many years, said that the free classes will not only be a bonus for her audience, mostly foreign tourists, but is also her way to attract more people to the country’s traditional music.
