The government will spend over VND8 trillion (US$482 million) to build offices in communes and wards from 2009-2015, according to a plan signed by the Prime Minister on Monday.

In the first phase from 2009-2012, about VND3.2 trillion ($192.7 million) will be allocated to construct offices for localities that currently lack work areas and those with substandard working facilities in mountainous and remote areas.

The second phase of the project, to be implemented from 2012-2015, will use VND5.2 trillion ($313 million) to build offices for the remaining communes and wards.

Construction priorities will respectively go to communes currently lacking offices, newly established or recently divided communes, and localities that want to upgrade or expand substandard facilities.
