Hanoi is very colorful with flags, banners, flowers before the National Assembly and People’s Council elections (May 22).

In the election of National Assembly deputies and People’s Council deputies on May 22, there will have 599 election councils of district level People’s Councils, and 10,630 election council of commune-level People’s Councils. There will have a total of over 91,000 voting precincts throughout the country.

Constituents will cast their votes to elect 500 NA deputies, over 3,200 deputies of provincial level People’s Councils, over 21,000 deputies of district level People’s Councils, and over 280,000 deputies of commune level People’s Councils.

This is the first time the National Assembly and People’s Council elections will be held the same day.

The elections were held early in some remote and isolated areas like Truong Sa Island District (Khanh Hoa province), Muong Te district (Lai Chau), DK1 oil-rig, some mountainous communes in Quang Binh and Quang Nam province.

The total spending for the elections is over VND700 billion ($35 million).
