VietNamNet Bridge – Of the 95 newly-elected deputies of the Hanoi People’s Council, there are 11 businesspeople.

The Hanoi Election Committee on May 27 announced the list of the winners in the municipal People’s Council election. Of the 95 deputies, there are officials of all 29 districts in the city and many officials of the Hanoi People’s Committee.

The city’s chairman, Nguyen The Thao won the highest number of votes, with over 84 percent. Six other deputies also took over 80 percent of votes, including: Chairwoman of the Hanoi People’s Council Ngo Thi Doan; Hoan Kiem District Party Secretary, Hoang Cong Khoi; Director of the Bach Mai Hospital, Nguyen Quoc Anh; My Duc District Party Chief, Nguyen Ngoc Thach; Chairman of Dong Anh District, Pham Van Cham and Director of the Hanoi Department of Transport, Nguyen Quoc Hung.

According to Director of the Hanoi Department of Home Affairs, Tran Huy Sang, the election in Hanoi was a success, attracting over 99 percent of voters.

Of the 95 new delegates, 24 were re-elected. There are 23 women, seven non-Communist Party people and three who are less than 35 years old.

There are 11 businessmen, including Le Van Thanh, Chairman of Dong Luc JS Company; Nguyen Thi Quynh Anh, Chairwoman of Trade Promotion and Investment Consulting Company the InvestProf and Hoang Giao Law Firm; Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai Suong, Director of the Hanoi State Bank; Chau Thi Thu Nga, Chairwoman and General Director of the Land and Construction Investment Group.

Two self-running candidates failed in the election.
