Vietnam commemorates Ho Chi Minh’s 121st birthday

Vietnam’s leaders on Wednesday paid a visit to the mausoleum of the country’s first president Ho Chi Minh in Hanoi to commemorate his 121st birthday.

During the visit, Nguyen Phu Trong, general secretary of Vietnam’s Communist Party, and other high-ranking officials like President Nguyen Minh Triet, and Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung placed wreaths at the memorial site.

Also that day authorities in Ho Chi Minh City visited the Ho Chi Minh Museum and attended a ceremony of planting 300 trees at HCMC National Cultural - Historical Park.

Ho Chi Minh, better known to all Vietnamese as Uncle Ho, was born on May 19, 1890 in Kim Lien village, Nam Dan District, the central province of Nghe An.
