Representatives of German bank group, Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (L) and Vietnam's Ministry of Finance signed loaning agreements with PM Nguyen Tan Dung and German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwellle in the background.

Vietnam and Germany Saturday signed two loaning agreements worth US$315 million  for two projects.

 

The agreements were signed at a meeting between Vietnam’s Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwellle.

 

Under the agreements, a metro line project in Ho Chi Minh City will be funded with $300 million while $15 million will be given to a vocational training project.

 

Also that day Westerwelle met with Vietnam’s deputy foreign minister Pham Binh Minh. The two officials agreed on ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation, including preparations for German Chancellor Angela Markel’s official visit to Vietnam this October.
