(L, 3rd) Jimmy Pham, founder and director of KOTO International, has been selected as a Young Global Leader in a list compiled by the World Economic Forum.

Two overseas Vietnamese are among 190 Young Global Leaders from 65 countries in a list released by the World Economic Forum Wednesday.

Prof. Ngo Bao Chau of the University of Chicago was included in the list for his contributions to the science of mathematics. Chau was the first Vietnamese to win the Fields Medal, the world’s most prestigious award in mathematics, last year.

Jimmy Pham, founder and director of the non-profit KOTO International organization, was honored for helping over 300 street youth by providing them with vocational training.

Every year, the World Economic Forum, a Swiss non-profit foundation, grants the title to between 100 and 200 people out of some 5,000 nominees from all over the world. Candidates have to be under 40 and meet other criteria including extraordinary achievements and strong commitment to serve society.

The title allows winners to become active members of the Forum of Young Global Leaders and get involved in activities of the larger WEF that brings together top business leaders, international political leaders and select intellectuals to discuss global socio-economic issues.
