Police in the central province of Quang Tri Thursday said they have cooperated with their Lao counterparts in busting a drug trafficking operation.

Nguyen Thuan Hoa, head of the anti-drug trafficking division under the provincial border guards, said they confiscated 20,000 synthetic drug pills found in a car with Lao license plates Wednesday as it was heading for Vietnam.

Two Lao nationals – Thao Van, 25, and Thao Sai, 30 – were arrested, Hoa said, adding that the duo told police they’d bought the drug in Vientiane and planned to sell them in Vietnam.

Hoa said the police had launched investigation into the trafficking case nearly two months ago.

The case is being investigated further, he added.
