Hanoi triumph at National canoe championship; Thailand to compete at T&T Cup International; Vietnam to face China in Asian Cup 2010 qualifier

Hanoi canoeists won an impressive 13 golds, 15 silvers and seven bronze medals at the National Canoe Championship, which closed in West Lake in Hanoi on Tuesday.

The northern port city of Hai Phong team came second with six golds and one silver.

Da Nang finished third on the medals table thanks largely to the trio of gold medals won by Luu Van Hoan in the 1,000m, 500m, and 200m men’s singles races.

Thailand to compete at T&T Cup International

Thailand will be sending a football team to compete at the International Football Tournament-T&T Cup, confirmed the Football Association of Thailand’s general secretary, Ong-art Kosinkha.

The T&T Cup, which is being organised by the Viet Nam Football Federation, is taking place in Hanoi from October 28 to November 1.

According to the VFF, the T&T Cup, formerly known as the Agriculture and Rural Development Bank Cup, has attracted teams from New Zealand, Thailand and Europe.

The Cup will be a stern test for Vietnam and Thailand ahead of the ASEAN Football Federation-Suzuki Cup, which is being co-hosted by Thailand and Indonesia this December.

Vietnam to face China in Asian Cup 2010 qualifier

Vietnam has been drawn in group D with China, Syria and Lebanon in the qualifying round of the Asian Cup 2011, which is organised by the Asian Football Confederation.

Five teams have already made it to the final round of the Asian Cup 2011: Iraq, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, India and Qatar.

Iraq, Saudi Arabia and South Korea were the top teams at the Asian Cup 2007. India won the AFC Challenge Cup 2008, while Qatar is hosting the Asian Cup 2011.

The two top teams of each group in the qualifiers will go through to the final round.
