Song Lam Nghe An led Vietnam’s top-tier V-League football competition after the third round following a 2-1 home win at Vinh Stadium over Hoa Phat Hanoi on Saturday.

Nigerian striker Timothy Anjembe put the capital side in front but Fagan Diego and Kavin Bryan scored to help Nghe An come back from behind and beat the visitors, who fell to 10th spot with the loss.

Nghe An jumped to the top spot with seven points because reigning champs Hanoi T&T, who had six points and were atop the league after the second round, lost 0-2 to the 2009 champs Da Nang in an early match at Hanoi’s Hang Day Stadium on Friday.

Da Nang now shares the third spot with Khatoco Khanh Hoa who took a 3-1 away victory at Go Dau Stadium over 2007-08 champs Becamex Binh Duong. Their losses left Hanoi T&T and Becamex Binh Duong in the fourth and ninth positions respectively.

Navibank Saigon also earned a 3-1 home win at Thong Nhat Stadium over Thanh Hoa, who are now in 12th position, two places from the bottom.

The Mekong Delta team of Dong Thap are in the sixth place after a 1-1 away tie at Lach Tray Stadium with seventh-placed Hai Phong, runners-up in the 2010 season.

The 2005-06 champions Dong Tam Long An are now in the eighth position after a 2-1 away win at Ninh Binh Stadium over Ninh Binh, who are in the 13th place out.

Champions of the 2003-04 season, Hoang Anh Gia Lai, recorded their first win after two defeats in the first two rounds to climb to the 11th spot. Their 3-1 away win at Hanoi’s Hang Day Stadium over Hanoi ACB consigned the latter to the bottom with zero points.
