The silverware of England’s Football Association Challenge Cup will be brought to Vietnam to be shown to the public in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City this Friday, VnExpress reported.

Organizers of the weeklong event also said that either former England star Steve Mcmanaman or Chelsea and England left-back Ashley Cole will accompany the trophy.

During the display, Vietnamese football fans will have the opportunity to chat with the visiting star as well as leading football players and coaches Vietnam, they added.

The first FA Cup competition was held in the 1871-1872 season with 15 teams competing and the silverware was worth 20 pounds.

Now it attracts 759 professional and amateur teams around England and the cash prize for the winners is 1.8 million pounds. Chelsea are currently the Cup holders, having won it six times, while Manchester United and Arsenal have done it 11 and 10 times respectively.

AJE, producer of the Big Cola soft drink brand, signed a two-year contract with the English football association in January under which the former works as FA’s major marketing partner in Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, India, Laos and Cambodia.
