Vietnamese tennis player Nguyen Hoang Thien won Thursday the championship title in boy’s doubles event at the 4th ITF Malacca International Junior Championship in Malaysia.

In the final game yesterday, the duo Thien and a Thai player Wishaya Trongcharoenchaikul beat Wisnu Adi Nugroho / Ega Uneputty from Indonesia 7-6(3) 6-2.

They had won Kosuke Kushima / Kairi Terakawa (Japan) 6-1 6-2 in the opening round before romping past Vimuktha De Alwis (Sri Lanka) / Khoo Er Yang Khoo (Malaysia) 6-1 6-3 and Punn Bodhidatta / Singekrawee Wattanakul (Thailand) 6-4 6-2.

In the boy’s singles event, however, Thien failed to impress after accepting a loss of 6-4 6-2 in the quarterfinals over the Indonesian Wisnu Adi Nugroho.

Last month, the Vietnamese young star and Australian Jack Schipanski Friday crowned the championship title for boy’s doubles event at the 2011 Tennis Central 18 & U ITF Summer Championships in New Zealand.

Thien is scheduled to take part in three more international junior tournaments this month in Thailand, Malaysia and the Philippines.
