Coach Augusto Sabbatini of Brazil will lead the men’s national volleyball teams of Vietnam.

The Volleyball Federation of Vietnam (VFV) has appointed foreign coaches for the national men’s and women’s teams.

The federation’s general secretary, Tran Duc Phan, on Wednesday announced the appointment of Augusto Sabbatini of Brazil and Qiao Yu Chuan of China on a probationary basis to coach the men’s and women’s national teams respectively for two months.

The monthly salary during the two-month probation period will be US$1,500, and will increase to about $5,000 if they sign contracts later.

Augusto, who coached Pakistan’s national men’s volleyball team from 2009-2010, is said to have approached VFV for the assignment, while Chinese coach Qiao Yu Chuan was recommended by the Chinese Volleyball Association at the federation’s request.

Chuan’s previous coaching assignments include Sichuan (China), Mexico and Oman.
