Tran Hue city Hoa will be Vietnam’s sole representative at the Asian Grand Prix
Series this year, announced Nguyen Manh Hung, deputy general secretary of the
Vietnam Athletics Federation (VAF).

The Asian Athletics Federation invited Bui Thi Nhat Thanh
and Tran Hue Hoa to take part in the event in China, however, Thanh was injured
so only Hoa will participate in the meet.

Thanh won a gold medal with 13.69m in the women’s triple
jump in the recent National Sports Games while Hoa’s best performance was a
high jump of 1.86m.

This year’s Asian Grand Prix Series is scheduled to take
place in different cities in China.
The first leg will be held in Jiaxing on May 22, the second in Kunshan on May
26 and the concluding leg in Wujiang on May 29.

Two athletes, Vu Thi Huong and Truong Thanh Hang, who
finished in the top three of the event’s three legs last year, did not receive
a call-up because the VAF had already implemented a detailed training schedule
to help them prepare for the London Olympics in London in 2012.
