Van Phuc wins yellow jersey at HTV Cycling Cup 2011

Ho Van Phuc of the ADC Vinh Long Television Station team was the fastest cyclist of the HTV Cycling Cup competition that ended April 30 in Ho Chi Minh City.

Phuc won the yellow jersey by finishing the 23rd edition of the nine-stage 1,075km tour in 27 hours, 33 minutes one second, followed by Nguyen Tan Hoai of Domesco Dong Thap 1 and Trinh Duc Tam from Hanoi.

Do Tuan Anh of Domesco Dong Thap 1 won the blue jersey for the cyclist who earned the most points from the nine stages.

The red jersey for the best mountain climber went to Le Ngoc Son of Domesco Dong Thap 2 while 18-year-old Tran Thanh Nhanh of Saigon Plant Protection Team 1 won the white jersey as the youngest competitor.

Domesco Dong Thap 1 won the team title with a total of 82 hours 39 minutes and 24 seconds, ahead of second-placed Saigon Plant Protection Team 1 and third-placed ADC Vinh Long Television Station. The fair play title was awarded to the 7th Military Zone team.

The HTV Cycling Cup Tour has been the biggest cycling competition in the country for the last 23 years. The contest commemorates the reunification of the country with the liberation of southern Vietnam on April 30, 1975.
