Vietnamese women won the gold medal beating hosts Thailand in the final match of the Asian Friendly Beach Games which ended in Pattaya City on Sunday.

After losing the first set 7-10, the Vietnamese women fought harder to take the second 16-14.

With the scores level, the winner had to be decided on penalties and the visitors prevailed 14-12.

In the men’s event, Vietnam finished fourth behind Oman, Thailand and Taiwan. Oman successfully retained their title after beating hosts Thailand 2-1.
