Vietnamese badminton player Nguyen Tien Minh has easily defeated Malaysia’s Chong Wei Feng 2-0 to advance to the final round of the Chinese Taipei Open.

Minh began the October 6 match with obvious determination and was soon dominating the first set, scoring nine successive points. From 5-5, Minh ran away to a merciless 21-8 victory.

Both players fought for the second set’s valuable points. At 12-12, Feng managed to stretch out a 3-point lead.

But Minh recovered quickly, drawing the set back to 18-18, conclusively breaking the tie. He won the second set 21-19 and claimed the match in 34 minutes.

He will now face the winner of the match between China’s Chou Tien Chen and Indonesia’s Praetyo Wisnu Yull.
