VietNamNet Bridge - The Head Representative of Korean Air (the Republic of Korea) in Hanoi, Lee Sang Kun, announced on September 24th that the air carrier will increase its capacity by 60 percent on its HanoiSeoul

route as of October 26th.

In addition, it will also launch an advertising campaign in the RoK promoting Hanoi and Hạ Long Bay to further attract Korean tourists to Vietnam.

Accordingly, the airline will replace its Boeing 737-900s, with 180 seats, with Airbus A330-300s, with 269 seats. Moreover, the RoK will also exempt tourists flying from
Vietnam to the US, Japan, Australia, New Zealand who are interested in a two-day “city tour” in Seoul from visa requirements.

Korean Air will coordinate with Sam Tour Company to offer two luxury tours for Vietnamese tourists, including
SeoulJeju IslandTiger World Park – Everland and SeoulNami Island – Sorak Mount – Everland with a USD 50 discount if the tour and plane ticket are booked together.

According to Mr. Lee, from early June to early August, Korean Air organized 12 charter flights from
Seoul to Danang, but they were not profitably because Central Vietnam’s tourism products were not suitable to Korean tourists. However, the airline will consider other flights in this winter when a series of resorts in Danang will be completed.

According to statistics from the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, after “hot growth” during 2004-2006, the number of Korean tourists to Vietnam decreased by 7 percent year on year in the first eight months of this year.
