VietNamNet Bridge - A trans-ASEAN motor tour, the first of this kind to pass though Viet Nam, started Wednesday. The tour is organized by Vinh Tan Tourism and Trade Company (Vyta Tours) with special permission from the prime minister.

Nine tourists from the U.S, Canada and Norway will participate in the two-month tour through five ASEAN countries including Viet Nam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand and Malaysia.

Although the price is nearly US$20,000 per person, the motor tour attracts a large number of adventurers, said Vyta Tours Director Phan Than.

Viet Nam located on the trans-Asia road is home of recognized world natural and cultural heritage sites such as the Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, the former imperial capital of Hue city, the ancient town of Hoi An and the My Son relics. All of this has the potential for a great motor tour. Visitors will have chance to discover beautiful landscapes, manners and customs in every region during the trip, he added.

Formalities for driving licenses will be simplified to develop this kind of tourism in future, said Mr.Vu The Binh, head of the Travel Department of the Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism.

Because of its success in organizing trans-national motor tours during the last 12 years, Vyta Tours is in the vanguard of launching a trans-ASEAN motor tour.

Vyta Tours is the first travel agent in Viet Nam and Southeast Asia region that arranges trips of this type for tour groups.
