VietNamNet Bridge – The festival was part of the “Sapa Culture –
Tourism Week” which took place from 27 April to 04 May, in the resort town of Sapa, the northern mountain province of Lao Cai.

Hosted by provinces of Lao Cai, Phu Tho and Yen Bai, the event opened on
April 30 with many new interesting activities. Visitors had a chance to
discover this famous tourism town through lots of unique, diversified
activities of festival.

“Sapa in the Cloud” was held on the peak
of Ham Rong Mount, consisting of music
performances and folk games of many ethnic groups like Mong, Dao, Tay, Giay and Xa Pho.

The festival attracted tens of thousands of Vietnamese and foreign
tourists. Nearly 200 hotels with more than 2,000 rooms in Sapa were fully
occupied.

Situated on the Hoang Lien
mountain range, Sa Pa is known for its cool climate and
atmospheric landscapes. It began the transformation from being a remote village
to a resort town after the French explorers visited the valley in 1903.

Sa Pa,
which is 400km north-west of Hanoi,
is now one of the most popular destinations in the country.
