According the Department of Lao Cai Culture, Sports and Tourism, in the evening of 15 noveber there had been more than 50 national and international athletes from 14 teams registered to attend the "Conquer Fansipan Peak - 2012 the IV" held by Vietnam Airlines.

The athletes will depart from Nui Xe station upto the top of Fansipan Mountain and fall back with a total length of 23km and 6 games including: The all-powerful male and female individuals; team of men and women (finish at the Nui Xe station, Hoang Lien Son National Park). Only the individual (male/female) prize is at the distance of 11.5 km (the finish at the top of Fansipan).

The "Conquer Fansipan Peak" cup is an opportunity to introduce to international friends the Hoang Lien Son mountain range and Hoang Lien National Park as well as the Fansipan peak with the height of 3,143m often being mentioned to as the "Roof of Indochina".

Via this type of sports, it is supposed to promote the tourism, to raise awareness of environment protection as well as to attract guests to participate in environment protection activities with the local. The climbing prize of this year will be associated with a number of activities in the tourism development cooperation of the 8 North-West Provinces, to create a unique series of events for tourists.
