VietJetAir and the Vietnam Tourism Association has reached an agreement in which VietJetAir will provide tour operators with favorable airfares and in return tour operators will seek customers for the air routes operated by the carrier.

Vu The Binh, vice chairman of the tourism association, said VietJetAir would join all programs launched by the association to lure customers and offer preferential airfares and booking incentives to the association’s members.

Meanwhile, the association will ask its members to look for passengers for the air routes of VietJetAir, especially the new routes like the one to Bangkok, Thailand and the Hanoi-Dalat route to be opened next month.

“This is the first time we have signed a comprehensive agreement with an air carrier on domestic and outbound tourism programs. Next week, we will discuss the specific discount rates, but customers will enjoy strong discounts,” he said.

Earlier, the two parties joined hands in a domestic tourism stimulus program, in which VietJetAir offered members of the tourism association airfare discounts of up to 49%.

“The association’s members sold promotional tours very well. The stimulus program is scheduled to wrap up at the end of this year, but with our recent agreement, it will continue into 2013 with no need for extension,” said Binh.

The Vietnam Tourism Association currently has some 200 members. Meanwhile, VietJetAir is a low-cost air carrier currently conducting 22 flights per day, with a plan to increase the number of daily flights to 42 by the year’s end.

The air routes operated by VietJetAir include HCMC-Hanoi, HCMC-Nha Trang, HCMC-Danang, HCMC-Haiphong, Hanoi-Danang and HCMC-Vinh.
