More international flights to Da Nang this quarter

Some international carriers will increase flights from destinations outside Vietnam to the central city of Da Nang this quarter.

The Saigon Times news website reported February 1 that Korean Air and Asiana Airlines will add one flight each from South Korea to Da Nang, bringing their total flights on this route to 5 flights and 4 flights a week respectively.

Singapore’s Silk Air currently operates 5 flights a week to the city, and will increase this to 6 flights.


Hong Kong’s Dragon Airlines will officially open flights, three times a week, from the territory to Danang. The carriers are inreasing flights in preparation for an expected increase in tourists to  Da Nang.

Tran Chi Cuong, deputy director of the Da Nang Culture, Sports, and Tourism Department, said the number of international tourists coming to the city by air has  increased sharply to 158,000 in 2012, twice the number in 2011.

A significant increase in foreign visitors is also expected this year, he said. Nearly 630,000 tourists visited Da Nang last year.
