The U.S. State Secretary Hillary
Clinton said on Thursday that Africa is of “great significance” to the Obama
administration and the U.S. seeks African Union’s assistance on the issue of
Libya.

Clinton made the remarks at the press
conference ahead of the meeting with visiting African Union (AU) Chairman Jean
Ping.

She said the U.S. has “every intention”
to broaden and deepen relationship “not only bilaterally with” countries but
also with the AU.


“In addition, we seek the African
Union’s assistance in arriving at a political solution in Libya,” Clinton added.


Ping is in Washington to attend the
second annual U.S.-AU high- level dialogue.
