“Orphan of the Zhaos” a classical tragedy of China will be performed on the Vietnamese stage by late October.

The drama, written by playwright Ji Junxiang nearly 700 years ago under the Yuan dynasty, was considered as the world’s masterpiece. It will be introduced to the Vietnamese by Director Trieu Trung Kien and his associates.

More precious gongs found in Kon Tum

The Culture and Information Department of Central Highlands Kon Tum Province have discovered eight more sets of gongs (called chieng Tha) in Bo Y Commune, Ngoc Hoi District.

Each set is comprised of two gongs, Head of the department Vo Dong said, adding that the date of these gongs have not yet been defined. However, he held that they are among at least ten sets of gongs of their kind that are being kept by the Brau ethnic families in Dak Me Village.

These gongs are only used for the village’s important rituals, Dong said, adding that each set of two gongs has a value of 30 buffaloes, equal to around 30-50 million VND.

French novelist to exchange views with readers

French novelist Marc Levy will meet and exchange views with readers in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City during his stay in Vietnam from October 3 to 11, said the Nha Nam Publishing and Communications JSC on September 29.

The writer will have a talk with students of Social Sciences and Humanities College under the Vietnam National University on October 8.

He has been known in Vietnam since his first novel Et si c’etait vrai (If Only It Were True), the best seller in France in 2000 with 900,000 copies sold out, was introduced to readers by the Nha Nam Publishing House.

The novel was translated into 32 foreign languages and made into film by famous director Steven Spielberg.

Marc Levy’s other novels such as Vous revoir (Seeing You Again) and La prochaine fois (Next Time) also find large fans in Vietnam, most of them are young.
