The history of Vietnam’s currency at HCMC Museum

| VietNamNet Bridge – An exhibition representing the history of “Vietnam currency” was launched on Tuesday at the HCMC Museum on the occasion of the 310th anniversary of Saigon - HCMC.
Visitors to the exhibition will see objects and currency from the feudal period, including the first bronze coin “Thai Binh Hung Bao” of Vietnam minted by the Dinh Dynasty (968-980) which is owned by the HCMC Museum, the ceramic jars containing cloted coins and a coin-wood measure owned by collector Huynh Minh Hiep, a 16th century coin from Le Hoan Hung’s collection and bonus coins and silver bars from the dynasties such as Le (1428-1788), Tay Son (1778-1802) and Nguyen (1802-1945) from the collections of Nguyen Nu Thien Huong and Huynh Tan Thanh. A collection of large bronze coins used as bonus from 1848 to 1883 in Tu Duc King’s period. The exhibition runs until March 20, 2009. HCMC Museum located at 65 Ly Tu Trong Street, District 1 celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. It has 11 rooms with more than 1,500 objects introducing the history, geography, administration, history of the revolution wars of Vietnam and the cultural life of people in Saigon - HCMC.
