ASEAN Golden Voice fest opens in HCM City

VietNamNet Bridge – The first ever regional singing contest - ASEAN Golden Voice 2008 - opened in Ho Chi Minh City on October 16. Attending the contest are singers from eight ASEAN countries, including Thailand, Malaysia, Laos, Myanmar, Indonesia

Attending the contest are singers from eight ASEAN countries, including Thailand, Malaysia, Laos, Myanmar, Indonesia, the Philippines, Brunei and Vietnam and four guest teams from China’s Guangxi and Beijing, the Republic of Korea and Bulgaria.

Vietnam is represented at the event by folk singer Hong Ngat and three pop singers, Ngoc Anh, Minh Quan and Dam Vinh Hung.

The folk music night on October 16 saw each contestant perform a folk song in his or her native language while on the night of October 18, singers will sing pop songs in the English language.

The award ceremony will take place at the Hoa Binh Theatre on October 19.

All contestants and guests will join local singers to perform at the closing ceremony on October 20.

The ASEAN Golden Voice contest is being jointly organised by the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union, the Radio Voice of Vietnam, the HCM City’s Television (HTV) to celebrate ASEAN major events and foster solidarity and cooperation between its members.
