A calligraphy and installation work displayed at the Dien tam do (Cardiogram) exhibition in Hanoi

Three calligraphy-based artists are sharing a four-day exhibition at the French Culture Center in Hanoi until Friday.

The exhibition at L’Espace, titled Dien tam do (Cardiogram), features installations and calligraphy by Le Quoc Viet, Tran Trong Duong and Vu Kim Thu.

The three artists all use calligraphy as a jumping of point from which to explore complex ideas with simple materials – black ink and white paper.

Viet and Duong focus on using and expanding upon ancient Japanese calligraphy as part of the art collective Tien Ve. Thu’s meticulous lines are not

easy to interpret while Viet and Duong’s works make Han (Chinese) and Vietnamese characters dance together on the page.

L’Espace is located at 24 Trang Tien Street, Hoan Kiem District.
