| VietNamNet Bridge – Over 7,000 book titles published by hundreds of French and Vietnamese publishing houses are being featured at the French Books Exhibition, which opened in Hanoi on Oct. 7.
Exhibits are displayed under a variety of themes encompassing entertainment and education. At this year’s exhibition, French novelist Marc Levy will meet and exchange views with readers in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City during his stay in Vietnam from October 3 to 11. The writer will hold a discussion with students attending the Social Sciences and Humanities College, part of the Hanoi National University on October 8. He came to prominence in Vietnam with the publication of his first novel Et si c’etait vrai (If Only It Were True), a best-seller in France in 2000 with 900,000 copies sold and was introduced to Vietnamese readers by the Nha Nam Publishing House. Marc Levy’s other novels, such as Vous revoir (Seeing You Again) and La prochaine fois (Next Time) also have a large fanbase among Vietnamese youth. As part of the “Reading Day”, an exhibition of 25 posters featuring the faces and hands of 25 French writers, as well as an exhibition of 60 maps depicting ancient Hanoi will also be on display.
