VietNamNet BridgeIn her first solo exhibition at the HCM City Fine-Arts Association, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Trac, 52, takes viewers to the worlds of nature and children through 42 oil paintings.

Rose-tinted: Friends, oil, 50X70cm by Ngoc Trac.

The children and teenagers in her paintings are rendered in an appealingly pure manner, as simple and straightforward as the subject she describes.

“Children are innocent and always joyful,” Trac said.” I wish I could paint adults, who looked as happy as children,” Trac said.

Various flowers bloom to life in White Lilies, Little Roses, Pink Lotuses and Cactus Flowers.

Her meticulously recreated flowers and fish vividly stand out against a dark brown background.

Several of her works, including Sunny Schoolyard and Quiet Street, exude a feeling of purity and tranquillity.

Portraits of her relatives and friends are also displayed at me exhibition.

Trac now teaches painting in her native village in Tay Ninh Province. A graduate of HCM City’s Fine Arts College, she came back to get her master’s there.

With help from her teachers, she picked her favourite works from the past year for the exhibition, entitled Cuoc Song Quanh Toi (The Life Around Me).

The exhibition, at 218A Pasteur Street in District 3, will run through Sunday.
